This weekend in a nutshell. I feel like it flew by so fast, but I'm happy that these two days were the best that I've had in a long time. I was really focused on staying present and enjoying the moment, resting and being okay, and I think I managed to do just that; really proud of myself!
We started it off by heading out for breakfast. For me, eating a breakfast out is a small luxury, something we don't do too often, so it felt really really nice to treat ourselves once in a while. We went for breakfast burritos at our local vegan cafe; although tofu curry filling might have been just a bit too spicy for a brekkie, it was filling and delicious. Saturday truly was a day of treats since we also had a dinner out at our favorite sandwich place; feels like I spoiled myself a little bit but hey I deserved it! I've noticed that I'm slowly turning into an amateur food stylist ever since I've started Instagramming again. I'm driving my boyfriend crazy taking pictures of our food, but who can resist when your meals are that pretty? Not my fault!
Saturday also treated me with a cute little desk that I found at a local thrift store. Yay to finally having a desk! For the record, I'm not too big of a fan of thrifting, but a desk exactly like this from Ikea would cost me $99 + delivery, and I got mine for $60. It has four drawers and was once owned by a seamstress; I found at least 7 pins and needles and countless threads when I was cleaning it. No hidden compartments or mysterious notes left, though; shame! If I was giving my old desk away, I would leave a note just for fun. Maybe I've just watched too many TV-shoes? :) Anyway, now I just need to paint my new desk white, and I will be all set.
Sunday was a fun day; my outfit turned out so cute that my boyfriend suggested we took photos which was something that has literally never happened before (separate outfit post coming)! By the way, what do you think of these cute super cheesy cups we found at the mall? I didn't buy them because I thought they were a bit too much, but couldn't help taking a snap. What we eventually bought was a badminton set; I didn't even know that a $7 thing can bring so much joy! Best things in life truly come at a very low price or even for free, you just need to find it in you to appreciate them.
Life had been a bit too hectic before this weekend, I really wasn't feeling myself for a couple of weeks. I felt anxious and really nervous about everything; I was overworked; as for my personal life, I couldn't tell what was going on, what I wanted or what was going to happen to me. Yet after days like these last two, when one really gets a chance to slow down, it becomes clear that there is so, so much more to life than hustle. There is so much beauty in slowing down and reconnecting with yourself. I really didn't feel like coming back to hustling today, but I hope that this post will remind me of all the nice things that I've experienced and felt if I feel down again at some point.
Let's have a wonderful week! xx
